Tyreek Hill may no longer be a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, but he’s still thinking about missed opportunities from his time there.

Regrets are a part of life. Reflecting back on what we could have done better is how we learn and grow. But Tyreek Hill’s biggest regret from his time in red and yellow with the Kansas City Chiefs is going to eat away at him for a long time.

But he can’t let the what-ifs get him down too far… A slight perspective shift might be helpful here.

In response to a Tweet from Pro Football Focus asking what the biggest “what if” story is in NFL history, Tyreek Hill made a hint to a pass he could have caught against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Tyreek Hill thinks one catch could have changed everything

The pass of reference is probably this one, which came in the first quarter of Super Bowl 55. Patrick Mahomes scrambled on a 3rd-and-11 and put a ball right where Hill could catch it. Instead, he dropped it. In complete fairness, there were multiple defenders in the area. While the ball was well-placed, it wasn’t exactly an easy grab. But it is one that Hill has proven he can make.

That was Kansas City’s second drive of the game. Still tied 0-0, a touchdown in this moment would have been a massive tone-setter for the remainder of the game. The Chiefs were unable to get any points on the board other than field goals, falling to the Bucs 31-9.

It’s unsurprising that a competitor like Hill thinks this one moment could have completely tilted the scales. In reality, though, the Chiefs were clearly outmatched by Tom Brady and the Buccaneers that season, so it’s hard to see this one catch causing enough of a domino effect to get the Chiefs the win.

After that, Hill and the Chiefs missed out on the Super Bowl the following year, falling to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC title game. Then, Hill was traded to the Miami Dolphins, ending his run with Patrick Mahomes and Chiefs Kingdom.

Chiefs fans have gotten another Super Bowl title since then, but Hill is still hoping he can be a part of something with the Dolphins.
